Barn Swallows

First they checked out the neighborhood and found it agreeable.

Then they built a home under the patio eaves.

The wife mostly stayed at home

while the husband kept watch from the light fixture.

And then, a blessed event.  Triplets.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie.  Oh, and mom’s a bit miffed that i didn’t ask permission to photograph the kids.

    From bridges to…barn swallows.

Matte is definitely a Renaissance man. And perhaps a budding naturalist.

Thank you for making me realize that barn swallows would probably be quite happy building their nests on the undersides of bridges. I’m wanting to photograph the kids as they grow, and i frequently see them sticking their heads and shoulders up. Unfortunately, when i hold my camera up high to take a pic, they jerk their heads back down. The parents by now have got so used to me standing in the doorway that they will now sometimes not fly away when i step onto the patio. Oh yes, the latent naturalist has surfaced.
